Students teaching the class?

Today in class we took notes with a twist. Dmitri and Hank decided to teach some of the powerpoint slides today. It was actually very funny how Dmitri sounded like an actual teacher. Some of the topics we talked about was place names or toponym's. A toponym is the name given to a place on Earth. They are names derived from people of prominence, religious affiliation, physical features, or origins of its settlers. We also discussed site. Site is the physical character of a place, climate, water sources, topography, soil, vegetation, and latitude. Situation is another one. Situation is the location of a place relative to other places. A region is a unique area on earth defined by one or more distinctive characteristics. A region is most often applied at two scales. One being the spanning of political states. Two is that they are constrained within one political state. A region derives its unified character through the cultural landscape, a combination of cultural religious, and physical features."Culture is the agent, the natural area, the medium, the cultural landscape is the result."-Carl O.
